Why Have PCS Design My Site? Can't I Do It Myself?

There are several good reasons to have PCS design your sight:

    1. The World Wide Web is a relatively new phenomenon, emerging on the scene only a few years ago and gaining popularity very rapidly.
    2. PCS is now in its 11th year of designing Web sites for both commercial enterprises and nonprofit organizations.
    3. The learning curve for designing effective Web sites is rather steep.
    4. PCS has a reputation for designing sites that are functional, easy to navigate, pleasant to view, and usable on multiple platforms.
    5. Our name stands for itself. Personal Computer Services prides itself on offering personal service to guarantee that you get the site you want:
      • a site that is effective
      • a site that uses your ideas
      • a site that meets your budget, but is not shortchanged in quality if your funds are limited.
    6. If you design your own print media - brochures, ads, etc. - then you can probably design your own web site, assuming you have the time to learn what we already know. Otherwise, you should hire the same quality professional service that you hire to design your other work.

How Much Will It Cost Me?

The actual design and maintenance costs will vary from project to project depending on several factors:

    1. Is the client a commercial enterprise or a nonprofit corporation?
      • Charges are $66 per hour for commercial customers.
      • Nonprofit customers are given a 10% discount.
    2. Does the client have any special requests for the Site?
      • Requests such as E-commerce -- to allow customers to order a product online -- will add to the basic costs; the amount will depend on the size of the added features.
    3. A general "rule of thumb" estimate is about 1-2 hours of billed time per page for a basic web Site. Special requests will add to this amount because of the extra time involved.

Maintenance costs vary depending on the plan chosen by the client:

    1. By the hour on an "as needs" basis with a 1/4 hour minimum charge per requested change or update.
    2. On an annual contract based on the projected amount of maintenance the client believes will be needed.

How Long Will It Take To Design The Site?

The length of time depends on:

    1. The complexity of the Site and
    2. The time of year that the Design request is made.

Generally, a Site with up to 6 pages, with 1-3 graphics per page, and with a form request page can be ready for customer approval within 2-3 working days.
